Good Psychiatric Management Principles for Psychopathy:
- Teach the patient to consider the rewards associated with prosocial behavior;
- Assess for HI/SI as needed (use L-RAMP);
- Encourage activities that engage the patient with simple emotions;
- Encourage adherence to sleep hygiene and medication for comorbid mood or psychotic disorders;
- Encourage the setting of short-term goals: if unsuccessful for weekly goals, try daily or hourly;
- Use MI to help patient figure out goals and values, also see relevant DBT® worksheets (Emotion Regulation Handout 18 and Worksheet 11 in the Revised Edition)
